Thank you for being here today! I am super flashed by the counter-summit, the actions, this demo and the cooperation for all of it.

What we have been seeing for days is how the gas lobby is entrenching itself behind the doors of the luxury Hotel Adlon, behind the so called police fences “Hamburger Gitter” and a massive presence of the police.

How pathetic!

State representatives, lobbying companies and the CEOS of the big fossil fuel companies are hiding in their back room!

But that’s actually nothing special: because they don’t do their politics openly, like we do here on the street! We say what we do and do what we say. The gas lobby doesn’t do that. They lie! They paint websites and destructive projects green and have hot wires to the highest political decision-making bodies:

According to a study by LobbyControl, representatives of the gas lobby met with the Federal Chancellor, federal ministers or ministers of state on average every day(!) between December 2021 and September 2022. That’s something to behold: Do you have a VIP ticket to the Chancellery? That explains a lot.

And where are we standing here? We’re standing here in front of the Zukunft Gas office. This is the heart of the LNG lobby in Germany. This association is the PR agency of the gas industry, promoting the fossil fuel business model and presenting gas as indispensable for a climate-neutral future. Zukunft gas has over 100 members from the gas industry, and the advisory board includes politicians from high positions in ministries and state energy agencies - such as DENA. The lobbyists accompanied Scholz and Habek to Senegal, Saudi Arabia and Qatar - both obviously authoritarian states. This is how they secured the LNG deals.

But this week, we’re finally making it transparent! This week they had to put themselves on the grid!

And I want to say something about where we are right now: One crisis after another: War, displacement, genocide, extreme weather and climate crisis everywhere, fascism on the rise and movements like us are experiencing increasing repression.

Fighting against the LNG lobby in these times? Yes, exactly that! Because who is causing the climate crisis? Who is continuing to expand fossil fuels for their own profits? Who gives a damn about the oppression, destruction and murder committed for these profits? These people are at the gas summit! This industry has a tradition of colonial oppression and capitalist exploitation. The crises of this time are exacerbated in the climate crisis.

That is why our response must be anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, anti-fascist and anti-authoritarian.

Energy supply is vital for the survival of us all. We want to socialize the energy supply. We want to finally decide for ourselves how our energy is produced, distributed and consumed.

We are taking the undisturbed back room away from the gas companies! We are taking away their greenwashing rooms!

We say: Exon Mobile, BP Shell, take you gas and go to hell!
